Great dark tent

We just spent the night in our obsidian and it worked great. It went together very fast and was really spacious and sturdy. I will be using it in Alaska in the summers and wanted a good blackout tent, and the obsidian is great in that regard. We spent the night and it got just below freezing and we had a little 1500 watt electric heater and that kept us completely warm easily all night. The only major change I would like to see would be at least one or two windows to have clear vinyl rather than the bug mesh that all 16 come with. The tent is either blackout, or its ventilated, with no option to allow light in without opening a window to the outside. Please replace one or a few mesh screen windows with a vinyl clear window so that we can get light in and still keep it closed up and warm.
Otherwise, great tent!

I really wanted to give it 5 stars but....

For the cost of this tent, I felt there were quite a few things overlooked.
1) I was somehow under the assumption this was completely made in the USA. I was disappointed to dump out the tent stakes only to read 'made in china' plastered all over the bags. I'm wondering if that's just the stakes that are made in China? And speaking of stakes, once the tent is staked out, you have to be quite careful entering the doors barefooted(we remove our shoes and bring them inside) because you'll step directly ontop of a stake.
2) it would be nice if the zipper pulls were colored to differentiate the screen door from the outer door. I plan to put some sort of glow in the dark zipper pulls on the inside.
3) the rain fly, once installed, completely covers the roof vents AND the windows. This totally prevents any air circulation and causes vapor build up inside the tent. I'd upload pictures if I could to show how I used sticks to prop the fly away from the tent all around by the windows. That made camping in August heat a little more bearable.
4) this probably isn't a great summer time tent because of how much warmer it gets inside. I'm sure having an air conditioner would make this problem go away but we were primitive camping without power.
5) This tent is heavy! The website says 75lbs but I weighed it in the bag, with the floor, rain fly, stakes and guy lines and found it to be 92lbs. We had to hike in to our site with our gear almost 500 yards. I'm a pretty solid strong dude and carrying this thing that far was no easy feat. I really wish the carry bag was either setup to be carried like a backpack OR had rollers on one end like an ez-up tent carry bag has. It's an awkward long shape and the weight makes it difficult to lug around.
6) another issue I'd like to see remedied would be that all the zippers get stuck on each other when they're in the same location. Maybe the screen door should be bigger than the main door by an inch to prevent this.
7) The last big issue I had with this tent goes back to the rain fly. Again I wish I could upload a picture but it zippers closed at the doors and when zippered, it just lays against the door. I'm not suggesting it become like a vestibule but it should somehow pull away from the door.

All that being said, I do really like this tent. I like that it's very easy to setup and take down. I like that it's round and without the rain fly you have a 360 degree field of view. I love that it's truly a blackout tent and no light passes through at all(except through some of the stitching, but that's not a big deal). This will solve the problem of camping in a campground where people dont have proper flashlight etiquette. I like that the floor is removable and makes for easy cleaning. It's very spacious and there's plenty of head room. I also found several cheap lights on Amazon that you can use a Milwaukee 18v battery that really lights it up inside. You will need a light even in the day. Not a deal breaker tho. I'd like to know what ac unit they recommend using with this tent because I'll probably end up going that route for summer camping. Structurally, this tent seems to be very well built and good quality. All in all, I would buy this again. I just wish it were a little less pricey and would like to see them fix a few things. Would also like to be able to read reviews on their site... that's kinda shitty
